Jackie Bourke is the founder of Playtime, an urban research organisation which focuses on the experiences of children in an urban context.
Her Phd, undertaken at Dublin Institute of Technology, focussed on the north-west inner city area. She has since published and presented widely on themes of relevance to the urban public realm.
She is currently engaged in research on the gender implications of public space, looking at the interaction between urban design, socio-political factors and how women and girls experience the city.
